Dental Imaging in the Overland Park - Kansas City Area

Radiographs

Radiographs, more commonly known as X-rays, is an imaging technique used by Dr. Tinnel and Dr. Prinz to view the internal structures of your teeth, gums, and jaw. It helps us detect dental issues we wouldn’t see during a regular oral examination, such as cavities between teeth, impacted teeth, bone loss, and the health of the roots and surrounding bone.

Radiographs: Advanced Dental Imaging Technology

At HT Complete Family Dentistry, radiographs are taken using the highest quality and lowest radiation digital imaging systems available, ensuring patient safety and accurate diagnostics. The level of radiation exposure from dental radiographs is minimal, often less than what a person encounters during a single day of natural background radiation. This makes the process both safe and efficient for our patients.

Digital radiographs are displayed on a computer screen to enhance patient education and improve understanding of the diagnosis. These images us to explain conditions more clearly, fostering better communication and trust. Radiographs are essential for diagnosing a variety of dental issues, such as tooth decay, gum disease, infections, and any pain or sensitivity a patient may experience.

Typically, every 3-5 years a panoramic radiograph will be taken and every year four bitewing radiographs. More radiographs may be necessary when needed as determined by the doctor. Types include bitewings, periapicals, full-mouth series, Cone-beam computerized technology (CBCT), and panoramic.
